T20 World Cup champions India are set to return home from Barbados on Thursday (June 4). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has arranged a charter flight for the team and accompanying Indian journalists, who are stranded in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl. Upon arrival, the team members will proceed directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in New Delhi. The meeting is scheduled for 9:30 am, followed by a charter flight to Mumbai where a grand party awaits them.
In Mumbai, a parade of open buses will start from the airport and head to the Wankhede Stadium. The parade, which is expected to draw a crowd of cheering fans, will end with a small ceremony at the stadium itself. During the ceremony, team captain Rohit Sharma will officially hand over the World Cup to BCCI secretary Jay Shah.
