THE BCCI posted a video on X, showing a meeting between Prime Minister Modi and the Indian cricket team. In the video, the Prime Minister was seen chatting with the players.
The interaction took place in a cordial atmosphere, where Prime Minister Modi exchanged a few words with the team members. The exact content of their discussion, however, was not disclosed in the video shared by the BCCI.
“A memorable event as #TeamIndia got the opportunity to meet the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modiji in Delhi,” BCCI posted.
India emerged victorious from the T20 World Cup After beating South Africa in the final last week, the team managed to reach Delhi early in the morning despite Bridgetown, Barbados, being blocked by a Category 4 hurricane.
During the meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Rohit was seated to his right, while head coach Rahul Dravid was positioned to his left. The players wore specially designed jerseys with the word “CHAMPIONS” prominently displayed on the front.
Additionally, two stars were embroidered above the Indian team crest in the top left corner, symbolising their two T20 World Cup titles. The players had a friendly chat with the Prime Minister, while flashing cheerful smiles. They also took the opportunity to take pictures with the Prime Minister.
To commemorate the occasion, BCCI President Roger Binny Secretary of State Jay Shah presented Prime Minister Modi with a customised Team India jersey. The jersey bore the words 'NAMO' and '1' in bold letters, adding a special touch to the momentous occasion.
