DKPP Fires KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari, Jokowi Guarantees 2024 Regional Elections Are Honest and Fair

The General Election Commission (KPU) guarantees that the removal of Hasyim Asy'ari from the post of KPU chairman will not disrupt the stages of the 2024 simultaneous regional elections. “As we know, these days the stages revolve around nominations, then there will be a campaign period, then the updating of the voter list is also underway. We will ensure that,” Mochammad Afifuddin said.
“And coincidentally, we are consolidating. All the heads of provincial KPUs and district/city KPUs from all over Indonesia are in Jakarta, so we have done internal consolidation,” Afifuddin continued.
Afifuddin was reluctant to comment on the decision of the Honorary Election Organizing Council (DKPP) to dismiss Hasyim Asy'ari for immoral affairs. Afifuddin said the matter was personal and not institutional.
“Yes, as we said earlier. Firstly, we will not comment on the DKPP decision because it is not institutional,” Afifuddin said.
