PTI demands Imran's immediate release in light of UN Panel's recommendations

UN Secretary-General endorses working groups' demands for Khans' release: PTI spokesperson says mandate usurpers are harming country's global image by keeping PTI founder in jail

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded immediate and unconditional release of PTI Founder Chairman Imran Khan from illegal detention in light of the recommendations of the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention.

The PTI spokesperson said that the UN Secretary General also fully endorsed the demands of the task force for the immediate release of Imran Khan.

He stressed that the PTI life chairman should be fully compensated in light of the recommendations of the UN Working Group as he said the motives behind his illegal arrest were completely and purely political and aimed at keeping him out of the electoral race.

The PTI spokesperson went on to say that Imran Khan was arrested without any legal justification in the Chiffre and Toshakhana cases, which clearly reflected all the voices raised across the world.

He pleaded that the thieves of fraudulent mandates imposed on the nation were determined to harm and spoil Pakistan's relations with the world just to keep Imran Khan in jail.

The PTI spokesman warned that the incumbent government, which lacks a public mandate, was compounding the country's international difficulties due to its failure to take seriously the recommendations of the UN working groups.

He stressed that all the 203 cases filed against Imran Khan were false, frivolous, fabricated and politically motivated, which is why he was honourably acquitted in dozens of these false cases as even the unconstitutional sentences awarded in the Toshakhana forgery and politically motivated encryption cases were also suspended by the courts.

The PTI spokesperson recalled that earlier, more than 97 percent of the members of the US House of Representatives had passed a very important and extraordinary resolution against gross human rights violations, political vengeance, widespread lawlessness and worst election theft in Pakistan.

He said the unelected government and the usurpers of the mandate would be responsible for any further damage to the country's international reputation and dignity caused by Khan's continued unjust imprisonment for their personal interests.
