Indian team meets PM Modi: T20 World Cup triumph celebrated in style

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said he had a memorable conversation with members of the T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team, discussing their journey at the recently concluded ICC event in the United States and the Caribbean.

The Rohit Sharma-led team, which won the T20 World Cup by beating South Africa last week, arrived in Delhi early in the morning after being stranded in Bridgetown, Barbados due to a Category 4 hurricane.

“A great meet and greet with our champions! We hosted the World Cup winning team at 7, LKM and had a memorable conversation about their experiences throughout the tournament,” Modi posted on ‘X’ along with pictures.

The team landed in Delhi in grand style before heading to the Prime Minister's residence for breakfast, where they spent nearly two hours.

The Prime Minister's Office had earlier shared a video of over a minute in which the players were seen chatting warmly, sitting in a circle around Modi.

Captain Rohit Sharma was on the right of Prime Minister Modi while head coach Rahul Dravid was on his left.

The players wore special customised jerseys with the word 'CHAMPIONS' written in bold letters on the front and two stars, denoting two T20 World Cup titles, above the Indian team crest in the top left corner. They were all seen smiling as they chatted with the Prime Minister. The players also posed for a picture with the Prime Minister.

On the occasion, BCCI President Roger Binny and Secretary Jay Shah presented the Prime Minister with a personalised Team India jersey with 'NAMO' and '1' in bold.
