Jokowi: IKN will become new economic growth point

President Joko Widodo or Jokowi continued his working visit to Bulukumba Regency in South Sulawesi. The head of state wants to ensure that prices in the market are at a good level for sellers and consumers.
“I saw red onions Rp 30,000, chili peppers Rp 30,000, and everything else is cheaper than in Java. After asking, it turned out that there is indeed their own production here in South Sulawesi, which is very good, very good,” Jokowi said in an on-site interview, Friday (5/7/2024).
Jokowi admitted that besides the market, he also went to Bantaeng Regency to see the pump installation. The installation of the pumps was provided by the Ministry of Agriculture for 80 pumps out of the 150 needed.
“This (pump) will increase productivity. The farmer said that here he only harvests once. Even though the land is fertile because there is no water. So with this pump, we planted the second one, we hope we can start planting later. the third one,” Jokowi hopes.
Jokowi is optimistic that if planting can be done three times, domestic rice production can increase and anticipate the long drought that is affecting all countries.
In addition to securing stocks, Jokowi also believes that increasing rice production can also increase market demand. When desires increase, market opportunities open up. Including it can be sent to the archipelago capital (IKN).
“Of course, if there is excess rice production here, it can be sent to IKN, if there is excess vegetable production here, it can be taken to IKN, so I think IKN will be a new point of economic growth and we also want economic transformation, especially those related to the green economy,” Jokowi said.
