Jokowi's invitation to new British PM to contribute to peace
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) invited Keir Starmer, the new Prime Minister (PM) of the British Empire, to continue improving diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the United Kingdom and contribute to creating world peace. Jokowi conveyed this invitation by congratulating Keir Starmer on his election via his X account.
“I congratulate you on the appointment of @Keir_Starmer as UK Prime Minister,” Jokowi said via his X account, seen detikcom Saturday (6/7/2024).
For the record, Keir Starmer has just been elected to replace former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Back to Jokowi, he also linked in his remarks the moment of 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and England.

“While commemorating 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Britain this year, let us strengthen bilateral cooperation and contribute to world peace and prosperity,” he said.
It is known that the Labour Party has officially won the 2024 UK general election after winning more than half of the seats in Parliament. This result makes Sir Keir Starmer the new British Prime Minister, replacing Rishi Sunak.
“Change starts now,” Starmer said in a speech in central London.
“Honestly, it feels good,” he told a crowd of cheering supporters.
The centre-left party returned to power after 14 years under the leadership of the right-wing Conservative Party. The Labour Party also now controls the majority of seats in Parliament.
