Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi said that the latter claims to have a direct connection with God, then why did the BJP lose in Ayodhya in the Lok Sabha elections.

Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat News: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Saturday launched an all-out attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing Congress workers in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and said his party will defeat the BJP in the state in the upcoming elections in the same way it did in Ayodhya in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi said that the latter claims it has a direct connection with God, then why did BJP lose in Ayodhya in Lok Sabha elections.

“They (BJP) challenged us by threatening us and damaging our office. Let me tell you that we will together break their government like they damaged our office. Here I am (take it in writing) that Congress will contest Gujarat and defeat Narendra Modi and BJP in Gujarat like we did in Ayodhya,” the Congress MP from Rae Bareli said.

The Congress will win Gujarat and from there it will make a new beginning, Rahul Gandhi said. He was referring to a clash that broke out between Congress and BJP members outside the Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress headquarters in Ahmedabad's Paldi area, on July 2 after members of the BJP's youth wing went there to protest Rahul Gandhi's remarks on Hindus.

According to police, both sides engaged in stone-throwing, in which five police officers, including an assistant commissioner, were injured.

In his speech, the former Congress president also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the BJP's defeat in the Faizabad Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh, where Ayodhya is located. “The people of Ayodhya felt angry when they found that no locals were invited to the Ram Mandir inauguration,” he said. He also alleged that Prime Minister Modi wanted to contest from Ayodhya, but his poll workers advised him not to do so, saying he would be defeated and his political career would be over.

Meanwhile, five Congress workers arrested in a riots case were remanded in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, hours before Rahul Gandhi arrived for a day-long visit. Rahul Gandhi was supposed to meet them at the Vasna police station, where they were lodged, but the police produced them in the court of Chief Magistrate BG Rathod in the morning after their remand ended.
