Homes of top PTI leaders raided in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD:

The house of Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Omar Ayub Khan was raided by Mianwali police in collaboration with Islamabad police.

The raid was conducted in Islamabad on Sunday but did not result in the arrest of the PTI leader as he was not present at his residence.

Police have targeted Omar Ayub's F-10 residence in Islamabad as part of an ongoing investigation.

Ayub is wanted in an anti-terrorism case and an anti-terrorism court in Sargodha has issued arrest warrants against him.

Police are continuing their search for the opposition leader, who is wanted for his alleged involvement in activities classified under anti-terrorism laws.

Ayub confirmed the raid, saying: “Islamabad and Mianwali police raided my house. ATC Sargodha has issued arrest warrants against me.”

“Federal and provincial government agencies, under the guise of producing Form 47, are trying to arrest the opposition leader,” he added.

“I want to make it clear that our struggle will continue until the founder of PTI becomes prime minister,” Ayub added.

Last month, the PTI's parliamentary faction opposed Imran Khan's initial decision to accept Ayub's resignation, demanding a rollback and reappointment of Ayub.

The request came 24 hours after the jailed PTI founder endorsed Ayub's decision to resign, a move that also saw Ayub lead the opposition in the National Assembly.

Amid rumours of internal dissension and confusion within the PTI, Ayub's resignation has added to the uncertainty. While the party was planning rallies for Imran Khan's release, Ayub's departure from his key role in the party was aimed at allowing him to focus on parliamentary affairs.
