Donald Trump's requirements for vice president revealed by his advisor

Former President Donald Trump's demands for his 2024 vice presidential pick were revealed this week by adviser Jason Miller.

On Monday, Miller, a senior adviser to Trump's campaign, appeared on Fox News' Fox & Friends and was asked when the former president might announce his choice for a running mate.

“By next Monday, we will know who President Trump has chosen as his running mate for the 2024 election. President Trump has some great choices, I really like all of the finalists and it could happen any time this week,” Miller said.

Asked about some of the names that have been floated, such as Sens. Marco Rubio and J.D. Vance, as well as North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Miller said Trump has floated even more names and said “it's almost overwhelming that there are so many good people.”

“What President Trump has said is that whoever he chooses has to be able to step in and get the job done from day one. Each of the different candidates has their own strengths and I think they can really help move the nation forward,” Miller said.

There’s been a lot of talk about who Donald Trump will choose as his running mate. Potential candidates include former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson and Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton. Other potential candidates include Vance, Rubio, Burgum, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.

Last month, NBC News' Jake Traylor reported on X, formerly Twitter, that Trump told reporters he had made a decision on his vice president but had not yet informed the nominee of his selection.

Trump said he had decided, “in my mind, yes.” He told reporters that “nobody knows” what his choice was. NBC also reported that Trump said his running mate would “most likely” attend Thursday's debate.

Vance was interviewed by Fox & Friends co-host Lawrence Jones last month, where he said there would be some “disappointment” if he was not chosen as Trump's vice president.

“I’m human, right? And so when you know this thing is possible and it doesn’t happen, there’s definitely going to be a little bit of disappointment,” Vance said. “But I think the most important thing is it’s so cool to be able to do the work that I do and, frankly, more importantly, I love being a dad.”

During his appearance on Fox & Friends on Monday, Miller also questioned who Trump and his potential running mate will “run against” amid criticism of President Joe Biden and called for him to step down from a second term after a poor performance in the recent presidential debate.
