From world leaders to corporate czars, top diplomats and the who's who of global celebrities, the Ambani family played the role of perfect hosts to a galaxy of stars during Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's three-day wedding in Mumbai.
Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani, tied the knot with Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharma tycoons Viren and Shaila Merchant, at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on Friday, followed by a Shubh Ashirwad ceremony on Saturday and Mangal Utsav on Sunday.
Former British Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, American wrestler and actor John Cena, Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan were among the celebrities who attended the ceremonies on Friday and Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi blessed the newlyweds at Saturday's reception.
A video montage posted on Instagram by paparazzi Manav Manglani shows members of the Ambani family greeting their guests at the ceremonies. It shows Mukesh Ambani interacting with former US Secretary of State John Kerry and actor Amitabh Bachchan. The Reliance Industries chairman is also seen hugging and welcoming former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Isha Ambani's husband Anand Piramal is also seen greeting Blair.
Other moments in the video montage included Mukesh Ambani greeting former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and actor Ranveer Singh dancing with FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
The groom, Anant, 29, oversees the conglomerate’s renewable and green energy expansion. He also runs a 3,000-acre animal rescue center, called Vantara, in Gujarat’s Jamnagar, the family’s hometown. The bride, also 29, is the marketing director of Encore Healthcare.
Participants included Bollywood icons Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor; cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav.
Indian politicians present at the wedding included Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, his deputies Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray. Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais also attended the reception.
