President Ilham Aliyev Sends Letter to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 15. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent a letter of condolences to President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Trend reports.

On the occasion of the eighth anniversary of the events of July 15, I honor with deep respect and reverence the memory of all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives to thwart the coup attempt, and I extend my deepest condolences to their families and all the people of Trkiye.
The heinous coup attempt that took place that night has remained forever etched in the bloody memory of our brotherly people, Turkey. It was an attack on the national interests, democratic foundations and the rule of law of your country. The wise and courageous people of Turkey have once again written a heroic epic by resolutely fighting for their homeland, their state and democracy, making their chest a shield. The events of that night have made July 15 the Democracy and National Unity Day, a symbol of the solidarity, struggle and national unity of your resilient people, which will always live and be remembered with even more pride throughout the ages.
Your decisive and immediate actions and leadership played a special role in the failure of this coup attempt against the Turkish state, saving your country from great tragedies. By rallying closely around you, your people have once again demonstrated to the world their national pride, strength and unwavering will in defending their state, freedom and democracy.
From the very first moments, the Azerbaijani people and state strongly condemned this betrayal and, as always, stood side by side with the brotherly Turkish state and people. It was our duty of brotherhood and loyalty to share our joys and sorrows with Turkey.
Mr. President, I recall with great pleasure our recent meeting in Astana and our in-depth exchange of views.
