Jokowi: As soon as the green light is ready, I will have an office at IKN
President Joko Widodo has said he is ready to open an office in the archipelago's capital, East Kalimantan, as soon as possible if there is a green light or signs of readiness.
He conveyed this in a press release after watching the opening match of the President's Cup at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung Regency, West Java, on Friday afternoon.

“As soon as there is a green light to be ready, I will have an office at IKN,” the president said when asked by the media crew whether he was ready to have an office at IKN, based on recordings received in Jakarta on Friday.
Previously, President Joko Widodo was still waiting for supporting infrastructure to be ready for his office in the archipelago's capital (IKN), East Kalimantan, which was previously estimated to start in July 2024.
“Is the water ready or not? Is the electricity ready or not? Is the place ready? If it is ready, move,” President Jokowi said in a press statement after the release of Indonesian aid for disaster management in Papua New Guinea and Afghanistan, at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, Monday (8/7).
The President admitted to having received a report from the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) regarding the readiness of IKN's infrastructure, such as water, electricity and the President's office which will be occupied.
From this report, the President received a report that the infrastructure was not ready for use.
“I have (received the report), but it is not (ready). Yes, but not yet,” the President said when asked by the media crew about the PUPR Ministry's Infrastructure Readiness Report.
Meanwhile, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono confirmed that water, electricity and internet will be ready for use during Indonesia's Independence Day ceremony on August 17 in the archipelago's capital (IKN).
“I checked everything earlier. The water, electricity and internet were fine (on August 17),” Basuki said when met at the presidential palace in Jakarta last week.
