Indonesian President to Start Work in New Capital Soon

JAKARTA – Indonesian President Joko Widodo is set to begin his official duties in the country's new capital Nusantara on Kalimantan island on July 28, Xinhua reported.
Heru Budi Hartono, head of the presidential secretariat, made the announcement on Wednesday.
The president is scheduled to inaugurate a toll highway on the scheduled date of July 28, and “we are making all the necessary preparations for the president to start working in the new capital,” the official said.
Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Public Works and Housing and acting head of the Nusantara Capital Authority, confirmed that the drinking water supply will be ready for use in the coming days in the new capital.
“Currently, drinking water is flowing to the new capital and has passed its third test, and will soon be distributed to residential areas and offices in Nusantara,” he said.
In addition, authorities are currently preparing for Indonesia's Independence Day celebrations, which will be held simultaneously in Nusantara and Jakarta in August. – BERNAMA-XINHUA
