Jokowi Signs PP No. 28 of 2024 Banning Residents From Selling Cigarettes by the Stick
tribratanews.lampung.polri.go.id. Jakarta – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has officially signed Government Regulation (PP) Number 28 of 2024.
The PP stipulates that residents are prohibited from selling cigarettes retail by the stick.
Reported from detikNews, this is stated in article 434 paragraph 1 point c seen by detikcom, Tuesday (30/7/2024). This is what it says:
Article 434
(1) It is prohibited for any person to sell tobacco products and electronic cigarettes:
a. use a self-service machine;
b. to any person under the age of 21 (twenty-one) years and to pregnant women;
c. retail unit per stick, except for tobacco products in the form of cigars and electronic cigarettes;
In addition, vendors are prohibited from placing cigarettes and other tobacco products in places frequently frequented by residents. Merchants are also prohibited from selling cigarettes within a 200-meter radius of educational units and children's playgrounds.
Residents are also prohibited from using commercial electronic websites or applications as well as social media to sell cigarettes. The rules for using websites and others are excluded in the case of age verification.
Residents who produce or import tobacco products and e-cigarettes must comply with packaging standards.
