Prime Minister Modi, who pioneered the yatra culture within the BJP, has organised countless yatras, statewide, inter-state and even pan-India. His first major yatra as the Prime Minister was the grand 'Gujarat Gaurav Yatra'.
Prime Minister Modi, the harbinger of change, has transformed the yatra, which the party used to raise organizational issues, into a powerful tool of governance.
Usually, yatras are organised by political parties to create awareness about the government, but unlike that, Prime Minister Modi's Gujarat Gaurav Yatra communicated issues of governance by a government while it was in power, a phenomenon never seen before.
Prime Minister Modi, then Chief Minister of Gujarat, used the rally to directly connect with the people and showcase the achievements of the state government under his leadership.
In a post on social media platform X, Modi Archive, which chronicles the life journey of Prime Minister Modi through archival photos, videos, audio recordings, letters, newspaper excerpts and other such content, has published an article on the Gujarat Gaurav Yatra and its impact.
Just months after taking charge as Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001, he interacted with the masses on the welfare of the poor, water crisis and women literacy.
The yatra, organised to uphold the pride of Gujarat, covered 5,000 kilometres crossing 25 districts and 182 Assembly constituencies and evoked a huge response from the masses.
Just as the yatra was launched, the visionary Prime Minister Modi had said that it would not only celebrate the pride of Gujarat but would also turn into a 'Vijay Yatra' – a march towards victory – and ultimately a 'Vikas Yatra' – a journey towards development.
Buoyed by the success of the yatra and the achievements of its government, the BJP led by Prime Minister Modi won a landslide victory in the 182-member Gujarat Legislative Assembly.
Thanks to Prime Minister Modi's good governance, around 25 million people in the country have been lifted out of poverty in 10 years of NDA government.
Several welfare schemes like Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, PM Mudra Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Smart City Scheme and Make in India have been launched by the Modi government, transforming the lives of people.
