Jakarta: Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia (Menpora RI) Dito Ariotedjo accompanied President Joko Widodo to present appreciation bonuses to athletes and coaches of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (11/9).
President Jokowi said he was proud of the achievements of the red and white team, which won 14 medals, including one gold, eight silver and five bronze. This amount obtained is a new history.
“I am happy because in this event, the Red and White contingent managed to enter a new history by winning fourteen medals,” said President Jokowi.
The Head of State explained the bonuses prepared by the government for athletes who manage to win medals. In addition to these bonuses, the government also offers appreciation for other bonuses.
Gold medalists receive IDR 6 billion, silver IDR 2.75 billion and bronze IDR 1.65 billion. Meanwhile, athletes who failed to secure a medal also receive a bonus of IDR 250 million.
Coaches and assistant coaches will also be appreciated for their dedication and hard work in producing champions, President Jokowi explained.
According to President Jokowi, Indonesia's success in international sports competitions for disabled athletes was not achieved instantly. But rather the result of hard work and a coaching process.
This success is the result of a long process. “Both early identification of talents, long-term and sustainable training as well as the hard work of coaches, support teams and various other parties,” President Jokowi explained.
As is known, the Indonesian contingent reached the 50th place in the final ranking of the 2024 Paralympic Games by winning one gold, eight silver and five bronze medals. (jef)
