Joko Widodo: Melon gas in Wonosobo will increase
The price of 3 kg of LPG gas or melon gas at the base level throughout Central Java (Central Java) has increased. The base price of melon gas, which was previously IDR 15,500, is now IDR 18,000.
The increase in the price of LPG melon gas follows the issuance of Decree Number 540/20 of 2024 of the Governor of Central Java regarding the highest retail price of a 3 kg liquefied petroleum gas cylinder at the delivery points of sub-distributors/Pangkalan. The decree was signed by the Acting Governor of Central Java, Nana Sudjana, on August 22, 2024.
Head of the Economic Section of the Wonosobo Regency Regional Secretariat, Joko Widodo, revealed that this price adjustment was made after the Central Java Province issued the Decree (SK) last Thursday (5/9). According to Pertamina, it will soon begin implementing price adjustments for melon gas cylinders.
“This adjustment was made due to price inflation. Since 2015, the price of 3 kg of subsidized LPG is still IDR 15,500 for the highest retail price (HET). .
When asked when the melon gas price adjustment would take effect in Wonosobo, his party was still waiting for the regent's decree regarding the price adjustment of 3 kg of LPG gas to drop first.
“We are still waiting for the regent's decree to be issued first. God willing, it will come out this week. After the governor's decree is issued, the determination of the highest retail price (HET) in Central Java will also be applied uniformly in all districts including Wonosobo, namely Rp 18,000 in all regions including Dieng,” he said.
According to him, there are exceptions for remote areas such as Karimunjawa and Nusa Kambangan, which require price adjustments due to transportation factors. Apart from that, prices must be equalized in all areas of Central Java.
In order to reduce price increases after the implementation of this adjustment, the district government will also exercise strict supervision over the distribution of this subsidized LPG.
“In the future, each base will be required to include complete information, including the base name, telephone number and applicable HET,” he said.

“Apart from this, retailers such as grocery stores will only get an allocation of 10 percent of the number of cans available at the base,” he explained.

“If there is a base that is caught selling more than 10 percent to retailers and the buyers are not registered in that base, it will be a discovery. And the base's license can be revoked as per the established SOP,” he concluded.
