A ban on junk food adverts on TV before 9pm will come into force next year, the government has confirmed.
Labour said the ban on junk food advertising – which will come into force on October 1, 2025 – would be implemented alongside a total ban on paid online advertising.
Both bans are aimed at combating childhood obesity.
The Conservatives had already pledged to ban the practice in 2021, under Boris Johnson, but their decision was delayed to allow industries to prepare.
The Conservatives said they wanted to review the impact of the restrictions on consumers and businesses in light of the cost of living crisis, promising the measures would come into force in October 2025.
This measure will be accompanied by a total ban on paid online advertising for junk food.

Health Minister Andrew Gwynne said the confirmed restrictions and when they would be implemented provided clarity for businesses.
He said the government wanted to “tackle the problem head on” and “without further delay”.
“These restrictions will help protect children from exposure to advertising for less healthy foods and drinks, which evidence shows influences their food preferences from an early age,” he said in his written statement to the House of Commons on Thursday.
He said more than one in five children in England are overweight or obese when they start primary school, and that figure rises to more than a third by the time they leave.
The prior ban on deep-sea fishing was a Labour Party manifesto promise during the campaign leading up to the general election.
