Jokowi launches various private investor projects in Nusantara
Archipelago. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday inaugurated several projects funded by local and foreign investors in Nusantara, the future national capital.
One of them is the construction of a hotel with an investment of 100 billion rupees ($6.6 million).
“Today, we kicked off the construction of D'Prima Hotel Nusantara which will have 154 rooms. I would like to thank D'Prima Hotel for quickly realizing the investment to strengthen the hospitality sector in Nusantara,” Jokowi wrote on his X account.
At another event in Nusantara, the president launched a real estate project by Delonix Group that will invest 500 billion rupiah ($33 million) in multi-purpose real estate on an area of 24,000 square meters.
Jokowi also inaugurated a luxury residential project with a joint investment of 300 billion rupiah ($19.8 million) from local investors and Russian company Magnum Estate.
Spread over 1.3 hectares, Magnum Resort Nusantara will offer high-end residential options, further expanding accommodation choices in the new capital city, located in East Kalimantan, Jokowi said at the inauguration ceremony.
“This new investment shows that Nusantara is open to international investors as we strive to build an international city. We hope that this project is just the beginning and that other investors will follow and start their projects here,” President Jokowi said.
He said upcoming infrastructure will support the new capital, including an airport and a network of toll roads linking Nusantara to Balikpapan and the new airport.
“Once the toll road is completed, the travel time between Nusantara and the airport will be only 15 minutes,” Jokowi added.
The president also launched construction of an integrated school on Wednesday, funded by the Australian Independent School. The facility occupies 7,900 square metres of land and is designed to accommodate 750 students from primary to secondary school.
“With 28 years of experience in the education sector, AIS is expected to provide a world-class learning system for Nusantara residents,” the president said.
Earlier, Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani announced that Nusantara had attracted $165 million in foreign investment from various companies.
Singapore-based Sembcorp Utilities Pte Ltd has invested $65 million in a solar panel system, while Raffles Education Ltd plans to invest in the education sector.
“Sembcorp has pledged $65 million and additional investments from other companies total $100 million,” Rosan said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He also noted that a Chinese investor has proposed to build a shopping mall in Nusantara.
