President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) visited the Sanggam Adji Dilayas Market, Berau Regency, East Kalimantan Province, Thursday, September 26, 2024. Arriving there at around 12:20 WITA, the arrival of the head of state was greeted with enthusiasm by local residents and traders.

President Jokowi also admitted that he was surprised by the warm welcome from the people of Berau. “I was really surprised by the enthusiasm of the people here because it may be the first time,” the president said in his statement to the media after the inspection.

During his visit, the President directly inspected market conditions, monitored prices of essential commodities and provided assistance to a number of small traders. According to the President, the prices of a number of basic necessities on the market are quite good.

“But what I am happy about is that I checked the prices in the market, everything is fine, good prices, stable prices,” the president said.

Apart from this, the President also expressed his views on the future economic development potential of Berau Regency. This takes into account the existence of the Indonesian capital (IKN) which is not far from Berau. “The municipalities around IKN must look into the needs of the archipelago. “This is a great opportunity for micro and small businesses to contribute to IKN’s logistics supply,” the president said.

On this occasion, the President also took the time to interact with several traders including Paika, a pentol soup seller. Paika and her husband are very grateful to have met and received help from President Jokowi.

“Alhamdulillah, I am very happy, I have never had a visitor before. “I received help to increase my capital and buy a cart,” says Paika with emotion.
