President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. H. Joko Widodo, today received the Honorary Brevet Shark Kencana which was pinned by TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto on the KRI Radjiman Wedyodiningrat-992 (KRI RJW-992) while sailing in the waters of Jakarta Bay.

The Hiu Kencana Honorary Brevet is a special award of the Indonesian Navy, especially the submarine unit, which is awarded to those considered to have contributed and paid great attention to the development of the Indonesian Navy.

“This award was given to President Ir. Joko Widodo in appreciation for his strong support to the TNI, especially in strengthening the submarine fleet,” the TNI Commander said in a press release.

Apart from this, during the event, the President also awarded the Honorary Samkarynugraha Medal to KRI Nanggala-402, which was received by the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal), Admiral TNI Dr .Mohammed Ali. This award was given in tribute to the crew of KRI Nanggala-402 who died on April 24, 2021.

“This award reflects KRI Nanggala’s dedication and struggle to maintain the sovereignty and security of Indonesian waters for more than 40 years,” Kasal added.

After this historic moment, the President also witnessed a sailing pass involving dozens of elements of the Indonesian Navy, including warships, aircraft and special forces of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Indonesian Navy demonstrated the capabilities of the main weapon system (Alutsista) through gun demonstrations, rocket firings and aerial demonstrations by the Rajawali Laut Flight (RaLF) team.

This event was attended by various senior state officials, including the Coordinating Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs, the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the National Police, as well as the public who participated in this historic activity.
