Terrorism case filed against Gandapur, jailed Imran Khan in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – A terrorism case has been registered against incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in connection with protests and vandalism in Rawalpindi.

The case was lodged at the New Town police station by sub-inspector Umar Siddique.

The charges included interference with government operations, rioting, and attacking a government vehicle with a Molotov cocktail, as well as conspiracy to commit vandalism.

The FIR named Imran Khan, Ali Amin Gandapur and 45 other leaders and activists.

According to the FIR, the accused obstructed public access by burning tires and clothes, thereby creating hardship for citizens.

He also said that they indulged in arson and stone pelting, making it difficult for police personnel to protect themselves.

Police officials reported that five suspects were arrested at the scene, including Khalil, Imran, Sadaqat, Yaseen and Tahir. A bottle of petrol was recovered from the possession of suspect Tahir.

Cases against PTI leaders registered in four police stations following protests

Rawalpindi police have registered cases against PTI leaders in connection with the protests at Liaquat Bagh.

The complaints were lodged at four police stations: City, Waris Khan, New Town and RA Bazaar. More than 100 leaders and activists, including Simabiah Tahir, MPA Asad Abbas, Ijaz Khan and Amir Mughal, have been named in the FIRs.

The charges included terrorism, attempted murder, vandalism, destruction of public and state property, and interference with government operations.

According to the FIR, the PTI leaders and activists raised anti-government slogans, pelted stones at the police and attacked them with iron rods.

Several police vehicles, including that of SP Rawal, were damaged and a police officer suffered serious eye injuries from a window.

The FIR also stated that the accused grabbed government firearms and fired them in the air, causing panic.

Police confirmed that cases had been registered and searches were underway to apprehend other suspects.

It is noteworthy that the PTI protests at Liaquat Bagh yesterday resulted in clashes between police and activists, resulting in injuries on both sides.
