BEIJING, Sept. 29, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Huang Zongde enlisted in the Chinese People's Liberation Army at the age of 17, beginning a military career spanning nearly four decades during which his bravery, valor and his dedication have earned him countless awards and distinctions. .
The heavily decorated 93-year-old received the state's highest honor on Sunday when Chinese President Xi Jinping presented him with the Medal of the Republic during a ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
China has awarded national medals and national honorary titles to 15 people, including Huang, in recognition of their contributions and achievements, as it marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, which falls on October 1.
