TNI plans spectacular 79th anniversary parade with jets, tanks and 100,000 troops
Jakarta. The Indonesian Army (TNI) will display more than 1,000 military assets from its three branches during the 79th anniversary celebrations in Silang Monas, Central Jakarta on Saturday, October 5.
Major General Hariyanto, head of the TNI information center, said all soldiers and equipment would undergo rehearsals from Monday to Wednesday, with a final rehearsal on Thursday. Approximately 100,000 troops will participate in the ceremony as soldiers, equipment operators, demonstrators and security personnel.
The parade will feature 1,059 military assets from the Army, Navy and Air Force, including tactical vehicles, armored fighting vehicles, amphibious tanks, personnel carriers and weapons delivery systems. Among the army assets on display are troop transport trucks, Maung tactical vehicles, Bushmaster and Anoa vehicles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and advanced communications systems. The army will also display chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) decontamination trucks, multi-purpose combat vehicles and Leopard tanks.
The Navy's display will include diving vehicles, RHIB speedboats, Russia's Yakhont long-range anti-ship missiles and amphibious tanks such as the BTR4 and BMP 3F, which support the Marine Corps.
The Air Force will display various equipment, including transport aircraft, fighter jets and helicopters, as well as specialized decontamination trucks, ladder vehicles, mobile radar systems and anti-drone technology.
Classic cars and motorcycles from local communities will also take part in the parade.
After the ceremony led by President Joko Widodo, TNI soldiers will demonstrate martial arts, cavalry performances, parachute jumps and aerobatic shows from the Jupiter Aerobatic and Rajawali Flight team. The celebration will conclude with performances by popular musicians and bands including Slank, Dewa, Ari Lasso and NDX.
Additionally, the Jakarta Provincial Government recommends that the nearby offices of Monas, MH Thamrin and Jenderal Sudirman implement work from home (WFH) arrangements on Saturday to reduce potential traffic jams. Traffic management measures will also be adopted in the Sudirman-Thamrin region.
