For PM Modis rally in Palwal, traffic on NH-19 will be diverted
The state and district units of the BJP are all set to hold an election rally on Tuesday which Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the party's star campaigner, will address on Tuesday, in Gadpuri village of the district.
Considered one of the major political events linked to the election campaign, Modi will seek votes for party candidates in the six districts of Faridabad, Palwal, Nuh, Gurugram, Rewari and Mahendergarh located in the southern part of the state.
Authorities have deployed around 3,000 police officers to maintain security and law and order in the district. Palwal DC Harish Vashisht said that as part of security measures, flying of drones or unmanned flying objects had been banned in the region till October 1. Faridabad and Palwal police authorities have issued a traffic advisory for vehicular movement on NH-19. between Palwal and Faridabad.
Entry of all types of heavy and light vehicles from Delhi and Faridabad towards Palwal would be prohibited from 9 am to 6 pm on Tuesday as the assembly ground is located very close to the highway, a spokesperson for the police. He said vehicles heading towards Palwal from Faridabad or those moving from Palwal towards Faridabad and Delhi have been advised to use the alternative routes of KMP, KGP and Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to reach their destinations during this period. Vehicles could use local routes such as Chandawali-Dayalpur road to reach KGP highway from Faridabad. Barricades would be placed at many places to divert and guide traffic on the Delhi-Mathura Expressway, he added.
While a huge pandal (covered structure) capable of accommodating several thousand people was set up at the site near the National Highway 19 toll plaza in Gadpuri village, BJP leaders and district authorities of Palwal and Faridabad have been engaged to prepare for the event, which is scheduled to take place 48 hours before the climax of election campaigning in the state. Polling is expected to be held on October 5 in a single phase in the state.
As the pandal is water and fire resistant, separate parking spaces for buses and vehicles coming from different districts as well as separate entry and exit points have been provided for around 40,000 people. The audience could reach 70-80,000 people, says Raj Madan, spokesperson for the BJP district unit in Faridabad. He said the rally could prove to be a major support for party cadres and supporters, who were confident of the third term.
