Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged voters to come forward and exercise their right to vote in the third and final phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections to make the democracy festival a success.
Voting began on Tuesday for the third and final phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, covering 40 seats in seven districts, including the winter capital Jammu.
Over 39.18 lakh eligible voters are expected to decide the electoral fate of 415 candidates.
“Today is the third and final round of voting in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. I appeal to all voters to come forward and cast their votes to make the democracy festival a success” , Modi said in a Hindi message on X.

“I am convinced that in addition to young friends who will vote for the first time, women in power will also participate in the vote in large numbers,” declared the Prime Minister.
Polling began at 7 am in 16 assembly segments in three border districts of north Kashmir amid tight security.
The assembly segments of the region which will go to polls are Baramulla, Uri, Rafiabad, Pattan, Gulmarg, Sopore and Wagoora-Kreeri (Baramulla district), Kupwara, Karnah, Trehgam, Handwara, Lolab and Langate (Baramulla district). Kupwara), and Bandipora, Sonawari and Gurez (Bandipora district).
In total, 202 candidates are competing in these 16 segments.
Voting has also begun in 24 assembly constituencies of Jammu region, including Udhampur, Samba and Kathua districts.
The early phases of the election saw high turnout, with 61.38 percent turnout in the first phase on September 18 and 57.31 percent in the second phase on September 25.
The results are expected to be announced on October 8.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also said that people of the Union Territory should exercise their right to vote to form a government that would keep away terrorism, separatism, corruption and dynastic politics .
Shah said Jammu and Kashmir needed a government that was visionary and capable of taking strong decisions for security, peace and stability.
“Today, the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir voting in the last phase should use their voting power to form a government that keeps Jammu and Kashmir away from terrorism, separatism, corruption and dynastic politics and who is determined to protect the rights of every section,” he said in a Hindi message on X.
The Home Minister asked the people to vote for tourism, education, employment and overall development in Jammu and Kashmir.
