PM Modi to launch PMJUGA in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand on October 2
Ranchi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit Hazaribagh in Jharkhand on October 2, on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, to inaugurate the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (PMJUGA) .
The initiative aims to promote socio-economic development of tribal dominated villages, empowering tribal people across the country. The launch event will take place at Vinoba Bhave University in Hazaribagh, where the Prime Minister will also interact with representatives of 33 tribal groups from across the country.
The PMJUGA, approved by the Union government on September 18, aims to bring up over 63,000 tribal-dominated villages spread across 549 districts of 30 states and Union Territories. The scheme, with a budget of Rs 79,156 crore, is designed to benefit over 5 crore tribal people.
The main objectives of the initiative include the construction of 20 lakh houses, 25,000 km of rural roads and bridges, and the provision of essential services such as clean drinking water, gas and electricity. The program also plans to establish 100 tribal market centers, schools, mobile health units and skill development centers, with emphasis on preserving tribal culture and strengthening agricultural and horticultural practices.
Prime Minister Modi will also address the final rally of the BJP's Parivartan Yatra, a campaign aimed at bringing political change in Jharkhand.
This will be Prime Minister Modi's second visit to the state in a little over two weeks. On September 15, he inaugurated six Vande Bharat Express trains and addressed a BJP rally in Steel City, Jamshedpur. This visit is significant as this will be the fourth time that the Prime Minister has launched a key national project of the state.
Past launches include the Ayushman Bharat Yojana (2018), the Kisan Maandhan Yojana (2019) and the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (2023).
