Singapore Leaders Congratulate Chinese President Xi on 75th Anniversary of Founding of People's Republic of China
In his letter to Mr. Xi, Mr. Wong said China had made “great strides” to become one of the world's largest and most important economies.
“During my visits over the years, I have witnessed first-hand China's impressive progress across a range of sectors, including rural revitalization, the digital economy, advanced manufacturing and environmental sustainability,” he added.
Singapore and China enjoy “warm and substantive relations” and this bilateral cooperation has been “mutually beneficial and forward-looking”, said Mr Wong, who is also Finance Minister.
The two countries continued to strengthen areas of cooperation by working towards a substantial improvement of their free trade agreement.
“We have also expanded our cooperation to encompass emerging sectors such as digital and green economies. At the same time, we have taken major steps to promote greater people-to-people exchanges,” the Prime Minister said.
Singapore and China will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Suzhou Industrial Park this year.
A joint venture between the Chinese and Singaporean governments, it is one of China's major industrial zones, producing technology products while building on the city's long history of manufacturing sought-after consumer goods.
Along with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, these milestones demonstrate the “strong and long-standing partnership” between Singapore and China.
