Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the origin of Covid-19 Firstpost

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he is convinced that the Covid-19 pandemic originated in a Chinese laboratory in Wuhan.

SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the disease Covid-19, was first reported in the Chinese city of Wuhan in late 2019. From there, the virus spread to the rest of the world and spread transformed into the worst pandemic in living memory. infecting more than 77 million people and killing more than 7 million.

In his upcoming memoir “Unleashed,” Johnson said Covid-19 was most likely made in a Wuhan laboratory, according to excerpts published by the Daily Mail.

Even though China and several influential circles in the West have insisted on the natural origin of Covid-19, there is no proof of this origin and no animal has been found from which the virus spread to the 'man. On the other hand, there is a strong circumstantial case for the virus originating in the laboratory, based on evidence that has emerged over the years.

The Covid-19 outbreak began next to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), the world's leading coronavirus research institute. It is now known that WIV scientists, led by “Bat Woman” Shi Zhengli, were conducting research on hundreds of coronaviruses, including research into “gain of function” (GoF) risk in which scientists assign additional characteristics to a pathogen that it does not naturally have the effect of making a virus more serious and more transmissible.

Referring to such experiments, Johnson said it is “extremely likely” that the pandemic was the result of botched laboratory experiments.

“The horrible thing about the whole Covid disaster is that it appears to have been entirely man-made, in every aspect. It now seems extremely likely that the mutation was the result of a botched experiment in a Chinese laboratory,” Johnson writes in the book.

Johnson compared the WIV laboratory scientists to the witches in William Shakespeare's play Macbeth.

“Some scientists were clearly putting together virus fragments, like the witches from Macbeth, bat eye and frog toe, and oops, the frisky little creature jumped out of the test tube and started replicating itself all over the world,” Johnson said in the book.

Alongside former US President Donald Trump, who was largely ignored because his messages on Covid-19 were tinged with racism, Johnson is the most high-profile Western politician to claim that Covid-19 originated in a Chinese laboratory.

Early in the pandemic, however, Johnson had blamed the pandemic on the unregulated wildlife trade in Asia, as the working theory at the time was that the virus originated in an animal market in Wuhan. He had linked the pandemic to the “insane” belief prevalent in parts of Asia that “if you crush the scales of a pangolin, you will somehow become more powerful”. However, over time, as more evidence emerged of risky Chinese experiments near the site of the first outbreak, he became more skeptical of the natural origin.

However, in early 2020, the British government was analyzing intelligence about an accident that could trigger the Covid-19 pandemic.

In April 2020, a member of the British government's secret emergency committee told the Daily Mail that the Cabinet was studying intelligence about a laboratory accident at the WIV involving risky coronavirus manipulation research.

Since then, over the years, it has become known that laboratory accidents at the WIV were reported from time to time and that Chinese scientists and their collaborators in the West had plans to create a virus through GoF research resembling SARS -CoV-2 which eventually caused the Covid-19 pandemic.
