Preparations underway for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Thane
Thane: A meeting of senior officials was convened at Valavalkar Maidan in Kasarvadavali, to finalize arrangements for the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister is expected to participate in the Chief Minister's Women Empowerment Mission program on October 5, 2024, with an expected participation of around 40,000 citizens.
During the preparatory meeting, officials discussed crucial logistics, including contingency plans in light of forecast rains, parking arrangements and necessary health services. Collector Ashok Shingare stressed the need for alternative electricity and internet supply solutions, as well as effective communication with citizens regarding traffic management. He said road closures in Thane district should be clearly marked to ease traffic jams during the event.
Around 1,200 buses are expected to facilitate transportation from Thane and surrounding municipalities to the Ghodbunder Road area, further highlighting the magnitude of the event.
The meeting was attended by various senior officials, including Zilla Parishad Thane CEO Rohan Ghuge, who reviewed the current status of key infrastructure such as the main auditorium, helipad and CCTV networks. Discussions also focused on parking arrangements for cars and buses, with the Department of Public Works providing space for around 1,200 vehicles.
Resident Deputy Collector Sandeep Mane made a presentation on bus parking strategies and dignitary travel routes, ensuring that all critical aspects of the event were carefully considered. After the meeting, a joint inspection of the venue and the helipad was conducted by the senior officers present to ensure that all arrangements met the required standards.
