Addressing a rally in Haryana's Bahadurgarh, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Monday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had created a financial structure that allows industrialists to spend millions on their children's weddings. He also spoke about the marriage of Mukesh Ambani's son Anant Ambani.

“Have you seen Ambani's wedding? Ambani spent millions on the wedding. Whose money is this? It's your money… You take bank loans to marry your children but Narendra Modi created such structure in which the 25 people selected can spend “There are billions of dollars on weddings, but a farmer can only organize a wedding by drowning himself in debt. If this isn't an attack on the Constitution, then what is? ” he said.

Rahul Gandhi also attacked the BJP government at the Center over the Agniveer project. He said the project was launched to deprive the families of martyred soldiers of pensions and other social benefits.

“Do you all know what the Agniveer (program) is? I will tell you. It is a way of snatching pension, canteen and martyrdom status from Indian soldiers. Earlier, there were government companies, but all this has been privatized now, the main motive was to hand over the Indian defense budget to Adani Defence,” he added.

The Congress has repeatedly declared that it will abandon the Agniveer system when it comes to power at the Centre.

In Sonipat, Rahul Gandhi said the Prime Minister had promised to bring down the price of gas cylinders. He said Congress would provide 2000 to the women of Haryana every month.

PM Modi used to say earlier that the price of a gas cylinder has come down to 400. What's next? 1200. When our government is formed, you will have it to 500. You will save 700 in your bank accounts. We will provide 2000 to the women of Haryana every month…We will give MSP to the farmers of Haryana, Gandhi said.

Haryana goes to polls on October 5. The results will be announced on October 8.
