Most people realize that the Islamic Republic of Iran provides money, equipment, training, intelligence and diplomatic support to terrorist groups in Gaza, as well as Hezbollah, the Houthis and others malicious actors.

However, people rarely understand that the People's Republic of China (PRC) also supports terrorist groups, including Hamas.

Hamas emerged in 1987 during the first Palestinian uprising from the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. The PRC recognized Palestine in 1988 and established a China Office to the Palestinian National Authority in Gaza in 1995, which was moved to Ramallah in 2004.

At least in 1995, Hamas had direct access to Chinese diplomats in Gaza.

Multiple sources noted that the IDF found large caches of Chinese weapons in Gaza, as well as intelligence-gathering equipment and other military supplies.

The IDF found Chinese military equipment in Hamas warehouses, including a large number of assault rifles (QBZ assault rifles) and grenade launchers (QLZ87 automatic grenade launchers), telescopic rifle sights and cartridges for M16, high-end communications equipment, listening devices, tactical equipment. military radios and sophisticated explosives.

Additionally, the IDF discovered Chinese rocket technology in one of Hamas' laboratories.

The PRC denied this, but even if the supplies had been delivered by Iran, PRC officials knew that Iran had sent equipment to Hamas. Certainly, Iran provided the funding and training necessary to use the equipment.

Chinese military technology is also present in missiles used by Iran-backed terrorist groups such as Hezbollah (Chinese-made C-802 anti-ship cruise missiles were used in the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war ), the Houthis (anti-ship ballistic missile technology). , and Iraqi militias.

Hamas conducted combined training operations four times with 10 other Palestinian terrorist groups simulating parts of the October 7, 2023 attack on the following dates (codenamed Strong Pillar): December 29, 2020, December 26, 2021, December 28 2022, and finally September 12, 2023. These exercises were highly publicized.

The late Mohammed Deif was the head of Hamas' military wing; he planned and carried out the October 7 attack, also known as the Al Aqsa flood. Deif, along with Yahya Sinwar, coordinated training with the other 10 groups for nearly four years before the attack.

In 1996, the PLO sent Deif to China, where he studied artillery and rocketry in the General Armaments Department of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), at the Ordnance Engineering College, which included courses on artillery, rockets and explosives.

There, Deif married two Chinese Muslims and brought them to Gaza in 2000; One of the Chinese wives is said to have opened a channel with the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to maintain communications between the CCP and Hamas.

A source claims that the late Ismail Haniyeh studied at Renmin University in Beijing and may have received training in other security-related topics.

The Israeli name for the network of tunnels under Gaza is Metro. Building the metro under Gaza (and to Israel and Egypt) is a colossal undertaking; the tunnel network, if connected end to end, is over 350 miles long. One source noted that the PLA's military advisors and tunnel engineers helped design and construct these tunnels.

Matches tied with PRC before October 7

Several events could indicate that China was aware of Hamas's plans to invade Israel on October 7. Before this date, several meetings took place, perhaps linked to discussions prior to the attack:

• May 8-9, 2023: A senior Iranian delegation visited China and met with the Minister of the CPC International Liaison Department and the Director of the CPC Central Foreign Affairs Office.
• June 13-16, 2023: Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing and issued a joint statement between the PRC and the State of Palestine on the establishment of a strategic partnership.
• July 17, 2023: Chinese Ambassador to Iran Chang Hua met with the Secretary General of the Iranian Council for Discernment and Opportunity.
• September 27, 2023: Syrian President Bashar al-Assad leaves his three young adult children in China after the Asian Games. An ancient Chinese tradition of entrusting one's children to the care of a ruler was a sign of loyalty (trust) and a way to protect them.

After October 7

China did not condemn the terrorist attack carried out by Hamas and other malicious actors on October 7, 2023.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called Israel's response to the terrorist attacks beyond self-defense and called on Israel to stop its collective punishment against the people of Gaza.

These other developments also took place:

• From March 1 to 2, 2024, 10 Palestinian factions, including Hamas, met in Russia.
• On March 17, 2024, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh met with PRC Ambassador to Qatar Cao Xiaolin and Foreign Ministry Envoy Wang Kejian to Qatar.

• On July 23, 2024, PRC Foreign Minister Wang Yi participated in the Beijing Declaration on Ending Division and Strengthening Palestinian National Unity with 14 Palestinian factions, including Hamas.

PRC diplomats accuse Israel of responsibility for the Gaza war at the UN and the UN Security Council.

Internally, the PRC has allowed its citizens to use blatant anti-Semitic tropes and anti-Israel memes to reinforce bigotry on social media and in the news media. In a highly controlled communist media environment, what state officials say or do not say reflects the CCP's views on the conflict.

Conclusions

The United States and other allies of Israel should investigate and take action against China's support for global terrorist organizations.

China's actions supporting terrorism are similar to those of Iran, Cuba, Syria, and North Korea (currently on the US list of regimes supporting terrorism). China should not be exempted from the list of countries supporting terrorism because of its superpower status. It's time to list China.

States whose citizens were victims (injured, kidnapped and murdered) in the October 7 terrorist attacks should take further action against China. The four countries with the most civilian deaths are Israel (1,200), France (40 dead), Thailand (39) and the United States (34).

These measures would begin to alleviate the harm caused to the victims of October 7 by China's support for Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist groups in Gaza.
