Vinesh Phogat claims she refused to speak to PM Modi after Olympics and reveals the reason
Former Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has claimed that she refused to speak to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a phone call after the Paris Olympics fiasco. Vinesh, who is currently contesting the Haryana assembly elections as a Congress candidate from Julana seat, said she does not want her emotions and efforts to be exploited for political gain. She claimed that she was told that two people would be present to record her interaction with PM Modi for social media.
“The call had come (from the Prime Minister) but I refused to speak. The call did not come directly to me but the Indian officials who were there informed me that he (Prime Minister Modi) wanted talk. However, they set conditions – no one from my team would be present, while two people from their side would record the conversation for social media. relentless are ridiculed on social media,” Vinesh told Lallantop.

She added that she would have appreciated a real conversation with the Prime Minister without any conditions to make it public. Notably, Prime Minister Modi called and interacted with all the medal-winning athletes in Paris to congratulate them for their efforts.
“If he really cared about the athletes, he could have called without recording it, and I would have been grateful. Maybe he knows that if I talk to Vinesh, she will ask me about the last two years maybe that's why I was told there would be no phone from me because they can edit (the video) on their side but I won't publish the original video. therefore denied,” she added.

Vinesh faces disqualification from the 50kg wrestling final at the 2024 Paris Olympics due to missing weight by just 100 grams, ending his campaign on a heartbreaking note.
