Gashi met Erdogan – Free Press
Macedonian Assembly Speaker Afrim Gashi had a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara today, during which opinions were exchanged on the advancement of cooperation between Macedonia and the Republic of Turkey, on the situation in the two countries and on current developments in the region and beyond.
The meeting, as announced by the parliamentary press service, took place in the presence of the President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Numan Kurtulmus, as well as the presidents of the parliamentary groups for cooperation and friendship of the two assemblies , deputies Beycan Ilyaz and Ahmet. Gashi had a one-on-one meeting with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, after which a joint meeting was held with members of the delegation.
Gashi stressed that the meeting represents an opportunity for the two countries to strengthen their long-standing active and fruitful cooperation. He considered that Minister Fidan's recent visit to Macedonia, as well as his current visit to Turkey, confirm the high level of bilateral relations between the two traditionally friendly and NATO allied countries.
Gashi emphasized that as a country, we attach great importance to fruitful cooperation with the Republic of Turkey in all fields and expressed his gratitude to Turkey, which has always been a principled supporter of our membership in the NATO.
Minister Hakan Fidan, as stated in the statement, confirmed Turkey's full support for Macedonia in all areas and spoke of the need to intensify cooperation in the economic field, reaffirming the commitment to increase trade between the two countries.
