Former President Donald Trump visits Midland

Trump was at the Midland Country Club on Wednesday for a fundraising luncheon.

MIDLAND, Texas Former President Donald Trump was at the Midland Country Club Wednesday for a fundraising luncheon.

Trump arrived by plane Wednesday morning at Midland International Airport as his supporters looked on. As he stepped off the plane, he was greeted by Congressman August Pfluger.

After meeting with the former president, Congressman Pfluger provided the following statement to NewsWest 9:

It was an incredible honor to be the first to welcome President Donald J. Trump to the Permian Basin alongside my wife Camille. President Trump understands. From day one, he will rise up and unleash American energy again. There are many similarities between West Texans and President Trump. We are no strangers to being knocked around by the boom and bust cycle; but we always rise again to provide the energy our country depends on. President Trump is exactly the same. He has fought a politicized Justice Department and two assassination attempts this year alone. But he always gets back up and fights for this country. We need President Trump back in the Oval Office. Afterwards, Trump was taken in a motorcade with the Secret Service and the Texas Department of Public Safety to the Midland Country Club for an hours-long fundraising luncheon. The procession arrived at the country club around 12 p.m.

A Midland couple waited nearly three hours across the road to greet the former president, saying they learned of his visit Wednesday morning.

“I was excited, I appreciate him coming to small communities and not just focusing on big cities,” said Susie Caraveo, one of many Trump supporters awaiting the arrival of the former President Donald Trump.

Another supporter arrived just in time to see the motorcade leave the Midland Country Club with her family. Bre Pahany, a Trump supporter from Midland, shared that this was a unique moment for her.

“I hope he takes away, in light of everything that has happened and the attempts on his life, that there are still many people here who truly love him and care about him and want him see him succeed and do great things for his country,” Pahany said.

After leaving the Permian Basin, Trump visited Houston.
