President Jokowi inspects rice distribution at Bulog warehouse in Kampung Baru, West Sumba
President Joko Widodo visited the Bulog warehouse in Kampung Baru, West Sumba Regency on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, to ensure the smooth distribution of rice aid to the community. During his visit, the President directly questioned residents about the quality of the rice they received and wanted to ensure that the rice distributed was of good quality.
“Have you all received the 10 kilos? Is the rice good? Are there any complaints about the black rice? The rice is yellow?” » asked the President, to which the residents immediately responded simultaneously by affirming that the rice received was in good condition. “That means Bulog is good,” the president said.
This rice aid program, in force since January 2024, will continue until next December. The President said the rice distribution would continue periodically, with the next distribution scheduled for December.
“This is what was received in October, yes, it will be received again in December,” the President said.
The President also invited residents to submit suggestions to the new government so that this program could continue. The President promised to convey the aspirations of the people to the elected presidential candidate.
“When the new government comes, I will whisper it to Pak Prabowo, but the suggestions come from all of you, you know,” the president said.
In his statement to the media after the inspection, President Jokowi confirmed that food stocks, especially rice, in Bulog were still under control. According to the President, food stocks at the West Sumba Bulog warehouse have reached 1,000 tonnes and are in good condition.
“There is no supply problem, the stock here was almost 1,000 tonnes. Just look inside,” the president said.
Through this program, it is hoped that rice prices will remain stable and that people can be helped to meet their food needs. “What we hope is that we can slow down the price of rice so that it cannot increase, because we intervene through food aid in the form of rice,” declared the President.
