Boris Johnson interview canceled after presenter accidentally sent him notes
The BBC has canceled an interview with Boris Johnson after presenter Laura Kuenssberg accidentally sent her briefing notes to the former prime minister.
Ms Kuenssberg, presenter of the BBC's flagship Sunday political interview show, said she had sent the notes to Mr Johnson in a message to my team.
The BBC's political editor between 2015 and 2022 said it was embarrassing and disappointing, adding that the error meant it was not appropriate for the interview to take place.
Mr Johnson, Prime Minister from 2019 to 2022, has an upcoming memoir, Unleashed, which will be published next week.
Ms Kuenssberg has previously investigated her government in Panorama Partygate: Inside the Storm, and looked back on the Tory final years in a three-part BBC Two series, Laura Kuenssberg: State of Chaos.
In an article on X on Wednesday evening, Ms Kuenssberg wrote: As I prepared to interview Boris Johnson tomorrow, by mistake I sent him our briefing notes in a message to my team.
This obviously means that it is not appropriate for the interview to take place.
It's very frustrating, and there's no point pretending it's anything other than embarrassing and disappointing, because there are a lot of important questions to ask.
But red faces aside, honesty is the best policy. See you on Sunday.
A spokesman for Mr Johnson declined to comment.
