Jokowi hesitates to make strategic decisions before retirement
JAKARTA, BALIPOST.com – Before his retirement or during the remaining three weeks of his term as President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo said he was reluctant to make decisions on strategic issues.
This was stated by President Joko Widodo when asked if he would lift the moratorium on new autonomous regions (DOBs) for the remainder of his term. “I only have three weeks left, I can't decide on strategic issues,” Jokowi said on the sidelines of a working visit to Alor, East Nusa Tenggara, as quoted by the news agency. Antara press, Thursday (10/03).
Jokowi also asked journalists to ask the president and the new government to lift the moratorium on DOB.
Regarding the lifting of the moratorium on the DOB, former Interior Minister Tito Karnavian also said that the lifting of the moratorium on the formation of new autonomous regions (DOB) would be entrusted by the current government to the new government or to the next period.
So far, the government has not established a moratorium on the new autonomous regions (DOBs). This moratorium has been in effect since the administration of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
However, Jokowi's government made an exception for the expansion of the Papua region, in order to accelerate the development of community welfare in Papua and bring community services closer to it. (Kmb/Balipost)
