Jokowi goes solo: no welcome plans before participating in regional elections
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi will leave office on October 20, 2024. On several occasions, he has stated that he will return to Solo after retirement. Jokowi also proposed changing his domicile since September 2024.

Surakarta City Regional Secretary Budi Murtono explained that Jokowi had proposed moving his home to Solo, Central Java, since September, at the same time as he was retiring as head of the State.

2. There is no reception plan yet
Budi Murtono also said there are no plans to welcome Jokowi back to Solo after his retirement on October 20, 2024. “No, there are no plans yet,” he said on Wednesday October 2, 2024.
Former Solo City Secretary Ahyani, who is also a close neighbor of Jokowi's residence, said there are no plans for the reception yet. “For now, not yet, but I will try to ask other residents first,” said Ahyani, who was also the Jokowi village RT chief.
Ahyani added that regarding welcoming or sending officials, it is possible that the Solo City Government will organize one. However, he admitted that he did not know that a similar event would also be organized for the former president.

Jokowi visited the residence of cleric Miftah Maulana Habiburrahman alias Gus Miftah at Ora Aji Islamic Boarding School, Tundan Hamlet, Purwomartani Village, Kalasan District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, Thursday, September 19, 2024.
Miftah explained Jokowi's plans after leaving the presidency. “He said that after October 20, he would sleep for a week or two in Solo,” Miftah said after the meeting with Jokowi.
