Trkiye urges world to stop growing Israeli attacks
A statement issued after the National Security Council (MGK) meeting called on all responsible actors, including the UN Security Council, to take immediate action to prevent Israeli attacks on Palestine, which have now extended to other regions of the Middle East, notably Lebanon.
Stressing that it is necessary to intensify international efforts to end the Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people and facilitate an immediate ceasefire, the MGK statement said it called on all relevant actors to take action in this regard.
The statement also emphasizes that Trkiye and the Turkish people will stand in solidarity with Lebanon against Israel's inhumane attacks.
The top security council also condemned Israel's latest move to declare UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres persona non grata, calling it the latest example of Israel's lawlessness.
The Netanyahu administration appears determined to expand the conflict between Israel and Hamas to wider regions. Ankara has sharply criticized Israel's brutal offensive in Gaza, which it and others say amounts to genocide. He also criticized many Western allies for their support of Israel and repeatedly called for Muslim unity to facilitate a desperately needed ceasefire. Ankara urges Israel to follow the Palestinians' constructive approach in ceasefire negotiations and for the international community to put pressure on Netanyahu's government. Trkiye also formally requested to join South Africa's initiative to have Israel tried for genocide before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Trkiye is also preparing for a possible evacuation of Turkish citizens from Lebanon, where Israeli attacks have reached the suburbs of the capital Beirut.
Furthermore, the meeting also reiterated Trkiyes' determination regarding the elimination of terrorist groups at home and abroad.
Noting that Trkiye would continue its effective efforts to eliminate terrorists on Syrian territory, MGK said it would not allow any plans or attempts at fait accompli that could harm national security. Ankara would also intensify its efforts to find a solution to the disagreement in Syria, in line with the interests and expectations of the Syrian people.
Regarding ongoing efforts in Iraq, the MGK statement highlighted Ankara's determination to strengthen cooperation with Baghdad in the fight against PKK terrorists and their ramifications. He also reiterated that Ankara values the peace, security and prosperity of the brotherly Iraqi people.
Trkiye would also continue to successfully carry out operations against terrorist groups, including the PKK/YPG, the Glenist Terrorist Group (FET) and Daesh, which pose a threat to national security.
Regarding Ankara's efforts to establish lasting peace in the Eastern Mediterranean, the MGK statement said that Trkiye would not allow its sincere approach and efforts to strengthen cooperation initiatives to be exploited, adding that it was better to act with common sense.
