PTI vows to hold protest demonstration at D-Chowk – Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Despite obstacles and roadblocks placed by police that paralyzed life in the twin cities ahead of the protest, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday vowed to hold a mammoth protest demonstration in D -Chowk on call. given by the imprisoned party's founding president, Imran Khan.

Khan called for the protest on October 4 (today), prompting security agencies in Islamabad to implement strict measures.

In Rawalpindi, police and relevant agencies were placed on high alert, conducting raids to apprehend known and unidentified PTI leaders and activists linked to the September 28 protests.

Rawalpindi police have been given special tasks to handle the upcoming protest, aiming to block major entry points between Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Places such as Rawat Chowk, Khanna Bridge on Islamabad Expressway, Gulzar-e-Quaid and Faizabad Interchange will be fortified with barricades and police containers from Thursday evening.

In a video message, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said he and thousands of Imran Khan's supporters would reach D-Chowk no matter how many days it takes.

He said the party would hold a peaceful protest and the city administration would be held responsible if it tried to stop the protesters from holding a rally at D-Chowk.

Let me clarify that these were peaceful protesters and we will reach D-chowk as this is the call given by our leader Imran Khan, he added.

Speaking to the press, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said the existing regime had no mandate to approve the constitutional package.

He said the protest was aimed at expressing solidarity with honest judges and against the so-called constitutional package, which aims to bring an independent judiciary under control.
