Imran Khan's sisters arrested at D-Chowk as Islamabad braces for PTI protest

Islamabad Police on Friday arrested Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, from D-Chowk. The two men were taken into custody and transferred to the Secretariat police station, as confirmed by Express News.

Their arrest followed PTI's announcement of a planned protest at D-Chowk. Party supporters began arriving in the area, Aleema and Uzma also joined the protest before being arrested by the police.

Earlier in the day, life in Rawalpindi and Islamabad came to a standstill as authorities closed the capital's entry and exit points. Mobile phone services were suspended ahead of the PTI rally. The government intensified its efforts to curb the success of the protest, while the PTI worked to turn the rally into a political victory.

The Islamabad Police announced the closure of police facilitation centers and driving license offices for the day. Metro bus services between Saddar and IJP Road in Rawalpindi were also disrupted, although services continued between IJP Road and Pak Secretariat.

At Burhan Interchange, tensions escalated between PTI supporters from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the police. Tear gas was fired to disperse the crowd, causing clashes. At D-Chowk, the situation intensified when PTI workers gathered, prompting police to fire tear gas and arrest six more people.
