Mitsotakis discusses relations with Turkey, rejects Erdogan's claims on Cyprus
Addressing the current state of Greek-Turkish relations, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis displayed cautious optimism while highlighting ongoing challenges during an interview with Mega TV.
Mitsotakis discussed his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, noting that while progress is being made, significant obstacles remain.

Mitsotakis stressed that productive dialogue can only take place in a climate of reduced tension, referring to previous incidents like the dispute over the border fence in Evros.
He nevertheless welcomed Erdogan's recent speech to the United Nations, in which the Turkish leader expressed interest in resolving disputes based on international law. This is a positive approach, Mitsotakis noted.
However, he was less optimistic regarding Cyprus, reiterating that Turkey's position remained totally unacceptable. He stressed that the international community, including the United Nations, cannot support Turkey's position on this issue.
Mitsotakis' comments reflect a delicate balance between cautious engagement and firm resistance, as Greece and Turkey navigate their complex diplomatic relations against a backdrop of long-standing territorial and political tensions.
