PM Modi on drug trafficking in Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was visiting Maharashtra on Saturday, lashed out at the Congress over the Rs 5,000-crore drug seizure in Delhi, saying the grand old party wanted to push the young people towards drugs.
While addressing a rally in Maharashtra's Washim, the Prime Minister said the Congress wanted to use drug money to contest and win the elections.
“Drugs worth thousands of millions have been recovered from Delhi. The main accused in this drug racket is a Congress leader. Congress wants to push young people towards drugs and use this money to contest and win elections,” he declared.

In one of the largest drug busts in the national capital, police seized over 560 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of hydroponic marijuana, estimated to be worth around Rs 5,620 crore, earlier this week.
Earlier on Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed the Congress over drug seizure in Delhi and accused the grand old party of turning entire north India into a point in the illegal drug trade when he was in power before 2014.
Addressing a gathering in Mansa town of Gandhinagar district, Shah said the arrested accused Tushar Goel is the president of the RTI cell of Delhi Youth Congress.
Giving data on seizures made over the last 10 years, Shah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'Drug Free India' campaign soon after taking office in 2014.
“Drugs worth Rs 5,600 crore were recovered from Delhi two days ago. When the Congress was in power between 2004 and 2014, nearly 1.52 lakh kg of drugs were seized across the country .But through our anti-drug drive, we were able to seize 5.43 lakh kg of drugs in 10 years from 2014 to 2024,” Shah said.
During the 10 years of Congress rule, drugs worth Rs 768 crore were seized, while Rs 27,600 crore worth of drugs were seized in as many years under the BJP regime starting from 2014, he declared.
“I was wondering why there was a huge difference between the seizures made under these governments. The investigation revealed that the main accused, Tushar Goel, who was arrested, is the chairman of the Delhi Congress RTI cell. Is “Is it possible for a political party to eliminate drugs if some of its own members are involved in drug trafficking?” asked Shah.
