Maryam Nawaz slams Imran Khan's PTI in latest rally

Punjab [Pakistan]October 10 (ANI): Pakistan Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz, in a public address, slammed former Prime Minister Imran Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf (PTI) for its attempts to organize demonstrations in Islamabad and Lahore.

Commenting on PTI's actions, Maryam Nawaz said Khan's party had failed to spread “political smog” in the country. His remarks came during the inaugural ceremony of the 'CM Climate Leadership Development Internship Program', GeoTV reported.

CM Maryam slammed the party founded by Imran Khan for promoting the culture of protest and agitation in the cash-strapped country. She accused the former ruling party of using Khyber Pakhtunkhwa state resources for the protests and said government employees and official vehicles were taken to protest in Islamabad.

Notably, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur is a close ally of Imran Khan who has been affiliated with the PTI since 2013 and has regularly supported the party's stronghold while Khan is incarcerated and undergoing trials for various cases ranging from the famous Toshakhana case to those related to non-compliance with Islamic customs during his marriage to Bushra Bibi.

GeoTv reported Maryam Nawaz's speech in which she said: “The PTI's agenda is to create chaos. Neither they work nor let others do their work,” she criticized the PTI and told the masses how such protests have a negative impact on the image of the Pakistani country in the world.

She also raised questions about the performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

Coming back to the theme of the event she was speaking at, Nawaz highlighted the pollution and smog crisis that Lahore is facing. Referring to the smog problem in Lahore, the chief minister highlighted the need for climate diplomacy with India.

Lahore remains one of the most polluted cities in the world. She informed that the government was monitoring smoke emitting vehicles and issuing fitness certificates, GeoTv noted. (ANI)
