Next government will continue social protection programs (minister)
Semarang, C Java (ANTARA) –
Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf said he believes the social welfare programs implemented by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will continue and even improve under the new government of President-elect Prabowo Subianto.
“Mr. Prabowo will continue what Mr. Jokowi has done and at the same time improve and provide additional things in the future,” he added when handing over the social reintegration aid (ATENSI) here Thursday.
He distributed this aid to 153 people from vulnerable communities in Karanganyar village, Tuntang subdistrict.
To accelerate the improvement of social protection for all Indonesians, the ministry continues to visit vulnerable communities to uncover gaps in government-run social programs, he added.
All findings from the community visits, the minister continued, will be used as input to the programs.
“While accepting new and better ideas, we innovate, correct and evaluate what is missing in the government, so we maintain the good ones and carry out evaluations, so that the social protection acceleration program can be realized faster” , he declared.
“We want to help, support and empower people who actually need government facilities,” he added.
The total assistance provided by the ministry amounted to Rp 105 billion, or 6.6 million US dollars, including assistance from the Family Hope Program (PKH) of Rp 71.3 billion, basic commodities 'worth Rp 22.8 billion, food for the elderly worth Rp 6.2 billion and food for the disabled worth Rp 2.5 billion.
It also included Rp 1.8 billion in aid for orphans and Rp 155.5 million for vulnerable groups, in addition to Rp 183.2 million in ATENSI aid and three tractors worth 60 million Rp.
