Jokowi and First Lady Iriana land at Nusantara Airport on larger Boeing plane
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Jokowi landed at Nusantara Airport in the capital Nusantara (IKN) today, Friday October 11, 2024, aboard a presidential plane.
The Boeing 737-800 that the Head of State boarded today had successfully completed a first landing test on Thursday. During his previous visit, Jokowi was on board the RJ-85 presidential plane, a relatively smaller plane than the Boeing plane, on Tuesday, September 24.
Jokowi and Iriana landed around 10:00 local time to inaugurate several infrastructures in the new capital, including the Hermina Nusantara Hospital.
At IKN, Jokowi and Iriana were welcomed by Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. Several other state officials also greeted Jokowi upon his arrival at the airport.
The former mayor of Surakarta is also expected to attend the Kompas 100 CEO forum at Garuda Palace, IKN region.
“President Jokowi also plans to inaugurate the Garuda Palace, the State Palace and the Mayapada Nusantara Hospital,” said Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media at the Presidential Secretariat Yusuf Permana.
The State Palace and Garuda Palace have been operational since July 2024. President Jokowi held two cabinet meetings in three months at the palace and commemorated Indonesian Independence Day on August 17.
State Minister Pratikno and Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani accompanied Jokowi on his plane trip to Indonesia's new capital, IKN.
