Israeli PM Netanyahu writes to PM Narendra Modi over Ratan Tata's death: Proud son of India
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to offer condolences over the death of Indian industrial titan and Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group, Ratan Tata. The business tycoon died Wednesday evening at the age of 86. He was undergoing treatment for a prolonged illness at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai and is said to be in critical condition.
“I and many in Israel mourn the loss of Ratan Naval Tata, a proud son of India and a champion of friendship between our two countries. Please convey my condolences to Ratan's family,” Netanyahu said.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu joined several world leaders in paying tribute to Ratan Tata, who was one of India's most respected industrial titans.
“India and the world have lost a giant with a giant heart. When I was appointed ambassador, India's first congratulations came from Ratan Tata,” said Eric Garcetti, US Ambassador to India, in his message of condolences.
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron said Ratan Tata's “visionary leadership has helped boost industries in India and France.”
“France has lost a dear Indian friend. His legacy will be marked by his humanist vision, his immense philanthropic achievements and his humility,” he said.
Tributes also poured in from global business leaders, including Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
Sundar Pichai recalled his last meeting with Ratan Tata, saying, “In my last meeting with Ratan Tata at Google, we talked about Waymo's progress and his vision was inspiring to hear. He leaves an extraordinary business and philanthropic legacy and has been instrumental in mentoring. and develop modern business leadership in India.
“Ratan Tata was a visionary leader whose dedication to improving lives left an indelible mark in India and around the world. I had the privilege of meeting him on several occasions and was always moved by his sense of purpose. acute duty and service to humanity,” Bill Gates wrote.
