PM Modi to inaugurate ITU-WTSA event, to be held for the first time in India
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the International Telecommunication Union – World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (ITU-WTSA) 2024 at the Bharat Mandapam on Tuesday.
This is the first time that ITU-WTSA is hosted in India as well as the Asia-Pacific region. The event will see around 3,000 industry leaders, policymakers and technology experts, representing the telecom, digital and ICT sectors, from over 190 countries, descend on the Bharat Mandapam to participate.
During the program, PM Modi will also inaugurate the 8th edition of India Mobile Congress 2024, the focus of which this year is The Future is Now. WTSA is the conference governing the standardization work of the International Telecommunications Union, the United Nations Digital Technology Agency, held every four years. WTSA 2024 provides a platform for countries to discuss and decide on the future of standards for next-generation critical technologies such as 6G, AI, IoT, Big Data, cybersecurity, etc. .
The ITU-WTSA event will provide the country with an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the global telecommunications agenda and also set the course for future technologies. Many Indian startups and research institutes are likely to be on the verge of gaining critical insights into the development of intellectual property rights (IPR) and patents.
India Mobile Congress 2024 will showcase India's innovation ecosystem, where leading telecom companies and innovators will highlight advancements in quantum technology and circular economy.
